Supportive psychotherapy is a psychotherapeutic approach that provides therapeutic support in the treatment of various diseases. It is mainly used for chronic diseases and can be applied over long periods. In addition to supportive therapy, the Body Health Center offers the possibility to conduct an individual pain management therapy as well. This rather exceptional form of therapy enables the patient to learn methods of better living and dealing with the condition of persistent pain (chronic pain). Chronic pain conditions mostly occur as a result of rheumatic diseases, fibromyalgia, endometriosis (mucous membrane disease) or psychogenic pain.
The Body Health Center usually recommends and conducts supportive psychotherapy as a complementary therapy to classical psychotherapy for individuals in chronic pain conditions in order to prevent secondary mental diseases and concomitants such as depression.
Psychotherapy can be conducted in an individual or group setting.
